Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28, 1952) is an American stage actor and TV actor. Most famously, she is known for her role as the protagonist in the television show Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves. Other notable roles include the President Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica and Independence Day's President's Wife and Donnie's Mother from Donnie's Darko.
